Explore more →The espresso runs a touch slower than usual, dark and even, and what's left in the glass is a clarity you'd normally expect from a good filter coffee: sweetness, a round body and a clean finish without hard edges.
This basket is a low-flow basket with especially fine 0.18 mm holes. The convex bottom is machined from solid stock – that's what «billet» means: made from a solid block instead of stamped. The fine holes deliberately slow the flow and give you a slow, calm extraction. That's our observation, one of many.
Basket choice changes the aroma profile fundamentally – often more than most people expect. Particle size and consistency determine how cleanly the extraction runs, and pressure opens a time window in which the different aromatic compounds release one after another. We always think of extraction in terms of weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point, never by time alone. No right, no wrong – in the end, what matters is that the coffee tastes good to you.
Nobody needs a different basket to make good espresso. But if you want to shape your extraction more deliberately and explore an especially calm, slow cup, here's a tool built exactly for that. Whether you want it is entirely your call – no obligation either way.

For everyone who shapes their espresso through extraction and is after a clean, sweet, clear cup. If you already work with weight ratios, you'll find a basket here that supports a slow, calm extraction. And if you're simply curious how much a basket can change the character in the glass, you're in the right place too.
Every coffee path is valid. Whether you've been extracting for years or are just diving deeper – this basket puts a new lever in your hands, without needing to change your whole setup.
An evenly distributed coffee bed gets the most out of this basket. For distribution, a WDT tool from our Barista Tools: affordable and precise with the Normcore WDT Tool, a step further in craftsmanship and feel with the Weber Workshops Moonraker.
For even tamping pressure, our Tampers cover both paths – the affordable, precise Normcore Tamper or the Weber Workshops version, built in solid workshop craftsmanship.
Because a clean flow starts with an even grind, a good grinder really pays off. In our Coffee Grinders you'll find the Varia VS3 affordable and very consistent, while the Weber Workshops EG-1 is made for anyone who wants to go even further in consistency and aroma separation.
Not sure what fits your machine and your taste? Our advice tool can help, and you'll find the full range in the Normcore Collection – we import Normcore directly into Switzerland.
The holes in this basket measure 0.18 mm, making them finer than in a classic basket. That deliberately slows the flow and gives you an especially slow, controlled extraction.
The 54 mm basket fits standard 54 mm portafilters, the 58 mm basket fits standard 58 mm portafilters.
The basket is available in 54 mm and 58 mm, each designed for an 18 g dose.

A basket that extracts cleanly shows a bean's sweetness especially honestly. From our coffee roastery, we recommend to the great majority Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight – full-bodied, dense, with chocolate and nut that come through beautifully in the clear cup.
If you're after maximum body without any acidity, reach for Very Nutty. And if you want to discover a fruity experience through this clean, slow extraction, you'll find in Wild Peach a lively, fruity companion. That's our recommendation, one of many.
